Delighted to announce the publication of Contemporary Issues in Collection Management, a new open access textbook, available to all as a Pressbooks open educational resource (OER) available through Open Education Alberta and the University of Alberta Library.

I had the privilege of co-writing the opening chapter – Physical or Digital: The Fundamental Challenge of Modern Collection Development – with Julia Sieben, as well as contribute to the cover design.

It also includes a reappearance of the XKCD Digital Lifespan Chart in Context, as added context!

Both book and article are a deep dive but if you’re interested in the current state of libraries well worth the plunge!
