Mermaid SeaSystems is a “a small but growing biotechnology firm with offices in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Copenhagen, Denmark.” Their specialty is analyzing microbial communities using genomics technology in order to solve problems in natural and built water environments.

So cool science stuff!

Starting from some initial concepts, as well as pictures of a wood carving of a mermaid belonging to one of the founders, for inspiration, we worked with the Operations Manager and the company Founder / Chief Technology Officer to develop a production logo.

In addition to the main version above, two variants were also developed for flexibility in applications such as vehicle decals and the mobile versus desktop versions of their website.
