Art From The Unknown

In a moment that speaks to one of our three core principles in work and life – make things – I made some things, submitted pictures of those things, then got some recognition for those things.

My dystopian altered book series has been included in the 2021 Art From The Unknown virtual exhibit, sponsored by Rachel Notley and the NDP Caucus here in my home province of Alberta. The series features three ‘classic’ dystopian novels – Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, George Orwell’s 1984, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World – each turned into a piece of book art based on a theme from each respective book.

In a moment that also speaks to the Venn Diagram that is Black Riders and the Butterflies & Aliens Library of Literary Eccentricities & Rarities, we have posts over in the Butterflies & Aliens Library about each piece, if you’d like to see and learn more about the process and the results.

If you have any questions about any of these projects, or maybe would even like an altered book for your own collection, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Content Warning: The posts linked below include images of books being physically altered, by which I mean getting cut up.
